greetings from sunny (and foggy) los angeles, ca

Hi, I'm heather. I like taking pictures. I take a lot of them. I stay up way too late. I wake up with my kids way too early (for me). Though slowly I'm learning that sleep is good.

I love photographing newborns, toddlers, kids (I've got two of my own), families, pets...you name it! Large groups and weddings make me way too nervous, but I'd be happy to refer you to other photographers in the area.

I love to hear your comments, so feel free to add to my blog by posting. Having a hard time remembering "umami?" Well, I wanted a name that would be easy to remember, spell and find, but apparently I did none of that, so if you'd like to get emails when I post, just add your email to the "subscribe here" box... you'll be the first to find out when I'll be offering mini sessions and other specials!

have a happy day... heather

tagged... all about me

Okay, I've heard some people are having problems posting comments, and I seem to be having issues posting comments on some other blogger sites, so this think must be a bit buggy. So, instead of making you all (all 3 of you) wait, I'm going to just do my tagged thing now. :)

6 things about me
1. I pretty much live in wool socks during the fall, winter and spring. They've been one of the top items on my Christmas list the last two years. Our wood floors are really hard so they add a little extra squish to my step and keep my amazingly rough feet warm and cozy. Got my first pair for a 4 day backpacking trip Matt and I did in Kings Canyon. a lifetime ago.

2. Every morning I make a cup of hot Caffe D'Vita (mocha flavored). By the time I get around to finishing the cup it's usually cold...but it still tastes good! I buy the 4 pound canisters at Costco 3 at a time.

3. I have a really long torso. Not sure what my inseam is, 28 (maybe less?), 29 inches in my dreams . When I sit up, I'm taller than my husband and pretty much everyone else I know. I'm a riot to bring to a party... just watch me whip out my torso back-to-back game. Oh and I make a mean monkey face. ;)

4. I'm really impulsive and quick to make decisions. (kidding) I'm actually the opposite. I tend to research every option until I'm so overwhelmed with choices that I don't do anything. Current issue: figuring out what kind of fence to go between our house and the neighbor's. We don't want to spend a ton of money, but we also don't want the neighbor's two German Shepherds to come visit us in our backyard. I'm also debating about what I should do for my photography website I plan to launch this Sept... just have to figure out what I'll be launching.

5. If I drink a glass of wine/beer/cocktail I turn red. I'm half Japanese and apparently lack an enzyme that breaks down alcohol. Or something like that.

6. I just planted a little garden in my front yard. Tomato, Maui onions, artichoke, pumpkin and some herbs. The spot doesn't get the greatest light, so last year I didn't have much luck. I'm hoping since I planted them earlier this year that I'll get more than the two tomatoes that were already on the plant when I put it in the ground. :)

my ex boyfriend is half-hapanese as well, and he too gets super red-faced if he happens (once in a blue moon) to have any alcohol. I didnt realize it was a enzyme thing. interesting! something new everyday (even though im behind in your journal :p) - mei
