greetings from sunny (and foggy) los angeles, ca

Hi, I'm heather. I like taking pictures. I take a lot of them. I stay up way too late. I wake up with my kids way too early (for me). Though slowly I'm learning that sleep is good.

I love photographing newborns, toddlers, kids (I've got two of my own), families, pets...you name it! Large groups and weddings make me way too nervous, but I'd be happy to refer you to other photographers in the area.

I love to hear your comments, so feel free to add to my blog by posting. Having a hard time remembering "umami?" Well, I wanted a name that would be easy to remember, spell and find, but apparently I did none of that, so if you'd like to get emails when I post, just add your email to the "subscribe here" box... you'll be the first to find out when I'll be offering mini sessions and other specials!

have a happy day... heather

it's raining babies!!! || south bay newborn photographer

I had my car all packed up and was ready to head down to the South Bay to photograph baby Asher. BUT I got a call bright and early from his mom saying he was sick. Poor little guy... less than 2 weeks old and already getting junk from his big brother. Luckily Asher's schedule was mostly just sleeping and eating and I was able to shuffle my plans around, so we moved the shoot out a few days (didn't want to wait too long and miss our chance to get those sleepy curly shots).

Asher did a great job and big brother Kellen got a big high five for chilling out with us during the photoshoot. Boy did mom and dad luck out with two gorgeous, well-behaved little boys! Here's Kellen when he was just four months old! Looks like the boys take after their dad in the hair department! ;)

hi mama! hi papa!

love those little sleepy smiles

flaky skin

got to remember how I made this hat...love it!

I wonder why most of the Kellen photos are blurry? lol.

thank goodness we had Mom to scoop him up.

seems like just the other day the little baby was Kellen...

Love love love these shots! This is what I was talking about...you have some swanky lenses, don't you. BTW, one of the blogs I found from you had a few posts recently about focus!

From: Hey girl, Nice shot!

Ah swanky lenses... this one isn't tooo swanky... I had that nifty 50 1.8 ($100) and it broke (can't blame the lens it got dropped on the ground). So I upgraded to the Canon 50 1.4 (about $350). Not as nice as the 50 1.2 (dream lens $$$$$), but it's pretty nice. Almost all these shots were with that 50 1.4, shot at an aperture of 1.8
