greetings from sunny (and foggy) los angeles, ca

Hi, I'm heather. I like taking pictures. I take a lot of them. I stay up way too late. I wake up with my kids way too early (for me). Though slowly I'm learning that sleep is good.

I love photographing newborns, toddlers, kids (I've got two of my own), families, pets...you name it! Large groups and weddings make me way too nervous, but I'd be happy to refer you to other photographers in the area.

I love to hear your comments, so feel free to add to my blog by posting. Having a hard time remembering "umami?" Well, I wanted a name that would be easy to remember, spell and find, but apparently I did none of that, so if you'd like to get emails when I post, just add your email to the "subscribe here" box... you'll be the first to find out when I'll be offering mini sessions and other specials!

have a happy day... heather

sil-we kay-wee

What, you guys weren't blown away by the fact we had a tornado/dirt devil in LA?! ;) I love to read your comments and I usually try to write back, so if anything strikes your fancy (good or bad), just give a shout out.

Oh my silly girl. She is such a nut. Most of the pictures I post on here just don't do her silliness justice. Here are a couple that capture her true personality.

Some of her favorite things right now:

  • swishing. She's really into swishing stuff around in her mouth like yogurt, juice, soapy bath water... and she does it loud enough that I can hear it. Ech!
  • princess pull ups. I got these for her because she was constantly taking off her diaper and hanging out on the toilet all.the.time. Sometimes she'd go, sometimes she just hang out. But since I've given her the pull ups, seems all she likes to do is mess them up (if you know what I mean). I think she just goes so she can put on another pair. Someone tell her that's not good for the environment!
  • talking. She'll pretty much repeat anything we say (up to about 6 words in a row). This is such a fun stage since you can get her to say, "I wuv you Mommy," "Kay-we is a sil-we nut!" and other fun stuff.

I guess some people like to be tickled. I don't. In fact I HATE it. But I'm more than happy to tickle those (like Kaylie) who ask for it!

Don't bother calling to tell me how much you love that picture of Kaylie's tongue or to see if we can do a playdate... I lost my voice today... guess it might make my job of yelling at the kids a bit tricky tomorrow. ;)

Oh, your blog is a hoot! From one photog nerd to another! If you got to Renee and Jeremy's website (link on my blog) you can kindly ask them if you can include their music on your site. Then they kindly reply back and you copy and paste the html onto your blog. Was that tim for a blog post? I've bookmarked ya!

Speaking of "hoot," I just picked up a great new book, "Little Hoot." It's a super cute one about staying up late. Thanks for the info on the music (and for stopping by). :)
