greetings from sunny (and foggy) los angeles, ca

Hi, I'm heather. I like taking pictures. I take a lot of them. I stay up way too late. I wake up with my kids way too early (for me). Though slowly I'm learning that sleep is good.

I love photographing newborns, toddlers, kids (I've got two of my own), families, pets...you name it! Large groups and weddings make me way too nervous, but I'd be happy to refer you to other photographers in the area.

I love to hear your comments, so feel free to add to my blog by posting. Having a hard time remembering "umami?" Well, I wanted a name that would be easy to remember, spell and find, but apparently I did none of that, so if you'd like to get emails when I post, just add your email to the "subscribe here" box... you'll be the first to find out when I'll be offering mini sessions and other specials!

have a happy day... heather

our 5 year wedding anniversary

After spending the morning with the kids watching the new Disney movie, "Wall-e" (I liked it, but it was too long for Kaylie and too "scary" for Jack), my friend Amy came over to watch the kids for that wicked time before dinner (I say "wicked" because Kaylie has been on 4 days of nap boycott).

With the kids taken care of, Matt and I headed out to Topanga for a little anniversary hike before sunset. It was so nice to go further than a hundred paces, and nice not to have to lug 40 pounds of kid back to the car. And even better yet, it was just nice to just talk and enjoy a real hike. Randomly we ran (well, he was running... I was taking a picture and Matt was checking his blackberry)... but nonetheless, we ran into one of Matt's bosses on the 19th mile of his trail run.

Some pics from our wonderful escape...

After our hike we grabbed some Mexican food and a margarita...ahhh...
It was a perfect night out.

And then when we got home, I found a little surprise Amy left us...
She embroidered us pillowcases!!! Not only does this girl run her own tutoring business, but she's also crafty and so thoughtful. Thanks again Amy!

Cheers! Here's to many more happy years ahead.

Happy Anniversary, Matt & Heather! Wow, you both look great. I can't believe how much the Haggenmillers look alike. I see so many similarities between Matt and this side of the fam in MN. Love the embroidered pillow cases. Now I wish I had splurged and bought the Pfaff embroidery machine that I glanced over. With that machine you just think up a cool idea and it does it for you.:)

Hi Grace!
My friend Amy does all her embroidery by hand (less stuff to have out when you live in close quarters with mischevious toddlers). I bed she'd love that machine though!

Thanks for the anniversary greetings everyone!

Gail- our place is still far from fancy schmancy. You should see the art I had the kids do for our living room wall... I'll have to post that soon.
