greetings from sunny (and foggy) los angeles, ca

Hi, I'm heather. I like taking pictures. I take a lot of them. I stay up way too late. I wake up with my kids way too early (for me). Though slowly I'm learning that sleep is good.

I love photographing newborns, toddlers, kids (I've got two of my own), families, pets...you name it! Large groups and weddings make me way too nervous, but I'd be happy to refer you to other photographers in the area.

I love to hear your comments, so feel free to add to my blog by posting. Having a hard time remembering "umami?" Well, I wanted a name that would be easy to remember, spell and find, but apparently I did none of that, so if you'd like to get emails when I post, just add your email to the "subscribe here" box... you'll be the first to find out when I'll be offering mini sessions and other specials!

have a happy day... heather

Yee Haw Happy Campers! || pacific palisades family photographer

Last Friday I met up with this family of happy campers. They were literally happy campers as they were in between two huge camping trips. The next day Gordon and Morgan (ages 5 and 6) were headed on a 10 mile backpacking trip with their brave parents. Little Melanie was staying home with Grandma this time, but the way she carried her brother's skateboard around, I'm sure she'll be making it out on the backpacking trails in no time.

I was so stoked when I saw that Jackie had gotten each kid to pick out something that was special to them. This makes the photos even more personalized and if you're like me and really bad at writing down all the things the kids are in to at each stage, then at least you have it documented in a photo. Morgan, the oldest sibling missing his two front teeth, brought a big red ruby gem and a cool rock he got on their last camping trip to Zion. (Note: They did not recommend going to Zion in the summer...try the spring when it's cooler). Gordon, the middle child with crazy long lashes and an infectious smile, wore his favorite cowboy outfit and brought his skull skateboard. And the youngest, the tough little sister Melanie, well, she wore Gordon's passed down cowboy boots, but also brought along high heels and a purse for an accessory change.

OMG! So fun! The kids were well behaved and had fun as we jumped from tree to tree taking photos. Here's your sneak peek... hope the backpacking trip was a success!!!
