greetings from sunny (and foggy) los angeles, ca

Hi, I'm heather. I like taking pictures. I take a lot of them. I stay up way too late. I wake up with my kids way too early (for me). Though slowly I'm learning that sleep is good.

I love photographing newborns, toddlers, kids (I've got two of my own), families, pets...you name it! Large groups and weddings make me way too nervous, but I'd be happy to refer you to other photographers in the area.

I love to hear your comments, so feel free to add to my blog by posting. Having a hard time remembering "umami?" Well, I wanted a name that would be easy to remember, spell and find, but apparently I did none of that, so if you'd like to get emails when I post, just add your email to the "subscribe here" box... you'll be the first to find out when I'll be offering mini sessions and other specials!

have a happy day... heather

well, that's one way to start a day

We had a pretty rough night with one coughing jack and one teething kaylie. Let's just say kaylie ended up "sleeping" between matt and me, but we all know how well one sleeps with a crazy toddler an inch away.

Kaylie woke up at the crack and her screaming (at me to wake up) ended up waking up jack instead who was still snoozing down the hall. This was at about 6am. I know I shouldn't complain, it could be way worse, but since I stay up until 11,12, 1, 2am, I love to sleep in until 7 or 8 (dream on, I know).

So anyway, they dragged me out of bed, but I perked up right away. Check out what I saw out our windows. Wow!!! It had rained during the night and was just clearing... wowie wowie, we rarely get clouds like this in LA.

I love to play around in photoshop to pop colors and such, but these clouds were so amazing I decided not to mess with them.

that little dark speck thankfully isn't dirt on my lens, it's a plane headed to LAX

this one is actually flipped upside down, but I thought it looked kind of cool this way - kind of like heaven and hell all in one shot.

Wow, pretty neat. Really like that upside down one and the one over the ocean. Guess I should get up early sometimes and look outside. It's supposed to rain here by Sunday.
